Bite sized pieces

Today I was painting some of my kitchen cabinets. And because I have been sick I had to paint a little, rest, paint a little, rest. It got me thinking. This could be sort of analogous to our faith walk. Often there is something God asks us to work on and, I don't know about you, but often times it seems overwhelming. Too much to accomplish. But what if we approached it like my painting project? What if we broke it down into smaller pieces. Work on a small portion, rest in it, repeat. For instance, working on healing the broken parts of yourself. What if you chose to spend a certain number of minutes a day just sitting with Jesus. Letting Him speak to your heart. Showing you scripture. Giving you a song. What if you did that a certain number of days per week. Until you trusted His voice. Recognized it. Followed it. And obeyed it. I think we would soon find ourselves farther than we ever imagined. Growing more than we anticipated. Moving farther and deeper in our relationships with Christ. And it all came in bite sized pieces. All we had to do was get started...
